Malawi
Malawi as a nation has one of the lowest GHG emissions in the world but it is one of the hardest hit by climate change.
Malawi faces significant development challenges, which are being compounded by climate change. Malawi is considered highly vulnerable to climate change, ranked 161 out of 185 countries for 2023 on the ND-GAIN Country Index.
It is estimated that 1.5 million girls in Malawi are at risk of becoming child brides as a result of climate change.
The effects of climate change in Malawi can be adapted and mitigated against in several ways including taking measures to reduce flooding, skills training and economic empowerment.
Partners in Action for Sustainable Development (P.A.S.D) is an NGO in Malawi. The focus of P.A.S.D is uplifting the lives of marginalized women, children and youth. These groups are directly impacted by climate change. DGC_SC supports P.A.S.D by raising their profile, finding capacity building partners and funding.
